Preparing to Vaccinate and Managing Anaphylactic Shock Emergency Responses

Activity Overview

This 1-hour activity reviews proper preparation of vaccines including obtaining necessary supplies, maintaining a sterile environment, performing proper hand-washing technique, and implementing proper protocol for management of anaphylactic emergencies secondary to vaccine administration.

Learning Objectives

  • Create an immunization station with all needed supplies to provide immunizations to the public.

  • Implement aseptic technique when preparing immunizations.

  • Demonstrate adherence of proper hand hygiene.

  • Assemble all required items for managing an anaphylactic emergency response in each technicians' perspective pharmacy and demonstrate how to utilize them.
