Immunization Pearls Home Study Sections
All technicians in Colorado must complete Section 1 only.
All technicians in California, Florida, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, and Ohio must complete Section 1, Section 2 and Section 3.
Each individual section requires approximately 1 hour to complete. Allot one hour of uninterrupted time away from the pharmacy to complete each section.
To complete the self-study, click on the course name below and select COMPLETE SELF-STUDY CE SECTION.
Carefully complete registration.
You must use your store’s c01 email address to ensure credit is obtained.
After completing the pre-test select SUBMIT to reveal a link to access the self study materials.
Follow the instructions to complete the training.
Select the POST TEST button and answer all questions.
After successfully passing the post-test, a certificate of completion will be sent to the store’s c01 email.
Complete all steps for each state’s required Section(s) as outlined above in red.
Section 1: Preparing to Vaccinate and Managing Anaphylactic Shock Emergency Responses
All technicians from CO, CA, FL, LA, ME, MA, AND OH must complete this self-study section.

Activity Overview
This activity reviews proper preparation of vaccines including obtaining necessary supplies, maintaining a sterile environment, performing proper hand-washing technique, and implementing proper protocol for management of anaphylactic emergencies secondary to vaccine administration.

Learning Objectives
Create an immunization station with all needed supplies to provide immunizations to the public.
Implement aseptic technique when preparing immunizations.
Demonstrate adherence of proper hand hygiene.
Assemble all required items for managing an anaphylactic emergency response in each technicians' perspective pharmacy and demonstrate how to utilize them.

Section 2: Vaccine Information Statement (VIS)

This activity reviews vaccine information statements, including their intended purpose, where to locate them, different ways to provide them, documenting the materials you provide, and the use of emergency use authorization fact sheets, particularly for COVID-19.

Learning Objectives
Demonstrate the appropriate use of vaccine information statements and where to locate these.
Document method of providing vaccine information sheets and emergency use authorization fact sheets for all customers receiving vaccinations.
Educate the public on where to find information regarding vaccinations, including both benefits and potential side-effects.
Remain compliant with state laws regarding VIS and EUA sheets.

Section 3: Cold Chain and VAERS

This 1-hour activity reviews best practices for vaccine storage and handling, including the cold chain, standard storage and handling operating procedures, temperature-monitoring devices, managing temperature excursions, and reporting/documenting vaccine adverse events.
